VALUES USUALLY GOVERN ATTITUDES and BEHAVIOR!

 Values Usually Govern

Attitude + Behavior

---Our values usually govern our attitudes and behaviors. If we have a value system that sees our fellow man as being part of the family of man that we belong to…one tends to want to see the most for him. ‘’One wants him to be The HAPPIEST + BEST that he can be.’’

---If we find ourself competing and comparing ourselves with his achievements…we will find ourselves always working on keeping up with the Jones - or whatever ''IN'' EXPRESSION best represents that condition nowadays. It's easy to have jealousy and envy rearing its head in there. We, probably, will spend much time on whatever is trendy as opposed to thinking on our own.

---Values produce attitudes and hence we behave accordingly. As we wrote before - when we don’t like someone, these or this dynamic is what we’re usually referring to. If that person behaved differently he/she would push different buttons in us and we would undoubtedly have a different experience of him. We would probably be responding to whatever different behavior that he is now using in front of us. Be Well!

HATEFUL PEOPLE or HATEFUL BEHAVIOR?

 HATEFUL PEOPLE or HATEFUL BEHAVIOR?

---When we meet someone we don’t like at ALL I wonder if it is the person or the behavior that we don’t like? If he/she is someone that is not our cup-of-tea at all, are we reacting to the person or the way that he is acting?

---Put this way, what if the person that you just don’t like spent the time with you telling you that he has seen you before and was always taken by how wonderfully that he thinks you treat other people. That puts a different chink in the armor. He also said he ordered a pizza and he was wondering if you want to have some. Pizza just happens to be your favorite food. Suddenly we have someone you weren’t attracted to that is appealing in some way.

---Now, we can turn this around. A person can act anyway that he wants. He can act in ways that we enjoy OR don’t like at all. He could easily be the same person in each case AND your like and dislike is based upon the behavior and/or attitude that is used.

---Have you ever met someone that you liked, but met him/her years later...and found you dislike him/her very much? Or, maybe it is vice versa?

I have found that people are generally the behavior or attitude that they present. As they grow you find yourself liking or disliking the behaviors and attitude that they use. As you grow, you find your likes and dislikes change, also. They seem to mature.

---We can see that people are changeable and it usually depends on the behavior and/or attitude that is used? And, some people are much, more predictable than others. When we find ourselves going back to the ‘’Golden Buddha’’ within us all, we find that the part that chips away is the very attitude and behavior that we are wearing and identifying with. The freer we are of that reveals the ‘’Golden Buddha,’’ within!

---If you want to find out more of the ‘’Golden Buddha’’ see the YouTube film FINDING JOE. (BELOW!)

Dr. VICTORIA SWEET (God's Hotel) - TEDtalk (About Laguna Honda Hospital)

Victoria Sweet was a doctor at Laguna Honda Hospital for 20 years. She took some time off in 2008 to write the book ''God's Hotel.'' When she left in 2008 she was the doctor on D3 in the old hospital. I happened to live there at the time so needless to say, I was fortunate to get to know her pretty well. She even brought the legendary (now passed on) Oliver Sacks to my room to meet me.

For those that may NOT have read ''God's Hotel,'' I highly recommend it. Over-the-years I have met many who enjoyed the book very much. One was board member at onetime Dr. Laurie Green. Our own CEO Michael Phillips, was another.

Times are different now, but I'll bet we still have folks that remember her. I've noticed there are many new folks that weren't aware of any of this. Do yourselves a favor and watch the video and/or read the book. I know you will be glad you did.
