ONE OF MY FAVORITE PEOPLE

—I had known Shirley Middleton since about 2005 in the Laguna Honda Poetry Group run by Social Worker Sharon Pretti. I was always taken by how wonderful and lovely she was. She always had a kind word for most. Nothing mean about her at all. The words most describing her by most people were wonderful and lovely.

—I think hearing her read her poems will jog your memories of who she was. I wish I had many more on tape. On the poem ''I AM'' her easy approach to life comes through loud and clear. On the poem ‘’HOW TO’’ there was something wrong with the computer I was using. The voice was out of sync with the mouth movement. It looked much like myself putting together a bad martial arts film of old with a very nice poem in the background. I always meant to redo her performance…but that never happened. And, I did think it was her best.

—During the last years of her life, we got together with friends Paul G. and Kim J., watching and sharing good food and good times from Kim’s NETFLIX account on S - 5. Covid put an end to all that. Covid put many things on hold. The exact details of Shirley’s passing aren’t clear to me, but the wonderfulness and loveliness of her personality sure are. I don’t think her passing is directly related to Covid. May you RIP, Shirley Middleton, as your journey continues whatever, wherever! You touched many people! I am very glad to have known you!
